Managing Mosquitoes

Mosquitoes are more than an unwanted picnic guest. They can bring disease and infection to people, livestock and pets. Mosquito-borne diseases such as West Nile virus, Eastern equine encephalitis and Zika virus can have symptoms ranging from mild to life-threatening, and people in Florida can be at risk of severe complications as a result. If you’ve got mosquitoes, Impact Pest Elimination can help reduce them with our mosquito treatment and trapping systems.Mosquito

Integrated Pest Management Systems

At Impact Pest Elimination, we use integrated pest management systems to manage your mosquito problems. That means we use a multi-pronged approach to:

  • Prevent future problems, including breeding and infestations, from developing
  • Monitor existing issues
  • Control populations, which we do with minimal exposure to pesticides and potentially toxic products whenever possible

We will work with you to identify potential trouble spots, such as mosquito breeding areas. Mosquitoes especially like standing water and heavy vegetation. Removing and mitigating problem areas is a good start to mosquito control efforts, but heavy infestations will often require more, which is where mosquito treatment comes into play. Our treatment reduces mosquitoes on contact, and our In2Care system will help keep them from coming back.

In2Care Mosquito Treatments

The In2Care Mosquito system targets mosquitoes at the adult and larval stages. Adult mosquitoes are attracted to the trap and lay their eggs in the water, which is treated with a larvicide and biological fungus. When they make contact with the water, they are infected by the fungus, which will block the replication of the Dengue virus and eventually will kill the mosquito. As the mosquito travels to different water sources, it will spread a tiny amount of larvicide to kill even more larvae.

Because the In2Care mosquito system targets mosquito breeding rather than mosquito biting, it could take a few weeks to see results initially. Homeowners and business owners must ensure adequate coverage of their properties for population control and consider using reduction treatment as well for more immediate results.

For the most effective mosquito control, the In2Care trap will need to be serviced and maintained periodically by Impact professionals, especially during dry spells. The traps are non-toxic for mammals and birds, and the larvicide is only toxic to mosquito larvae in this concentration. This US-EPA-approved fungus has even been approved by the World Health Organization for use in drinking water.
